which one is better?

I was going to ask Ron which picture is better and post it... but he's asleep on the couch. He's sick so I won't wake him to ask him about cute pictures of Luke.

So what do y'all think? I am still learning about photography. It's hugely about preference. But is this first shot with the sun's rays hitting Luke a good picture? I'm not asking if you like it as much as I'm asking if it's got good composition. The more I look at it the more I think it's overexposed. Amy, Ashley, Jenn, and other photographers, what are your opinions?

overexposed or not, I don't know, but I prefer the brightness of the second picture. It's hard to say you don't prefer a picture of a grandchild, but this time, the second one is better, my unprofessional opinion. :) Love, B

Yep, I'm going to go w/ #2. I am a sucker for the sharp, bright type of pics. Looks great and Luke is a cutie!!!

I like both for different reasons. The second is probably the better overall picture but I like a little haze sometimes. Do you ever use the editing tools in iPhoto? I'm too stupid to use Photoshop so i use the really simply iPhoto tools.

I do use the iPhoto tools; they're really helpful. I bought Photoshop Elements and am too scared to dive in. It overwhelms me. I'm thinking about taking a free course at the Mac store to get a little help...
