i have a question for those of you who are more familiar with blogger than i am. how and why do these random comments show up? (someone felt the need to leave a comment with curse words.) is there a way i can keep things like this from happening?

If you go to "settings," you can choose to moderate your comments or at least choose to add a word a commenter has to type to make sure that you don't get "spambot" comments.
I hope that makes sense!
(I'll be sad that I can't post cussing anymore, though.)

Like Susan said, you can add the word verification on your comments or not allow comments from anonymous users. This will just require everyone to log in before they comment. Hope this helps!
