Sunday

Here's a quick shout out to B and Pops. Ron was called out of town for a funeral and it happened to be my praise team weekend. So B and Pops came to the house at 6:45 so I could be at church by 7. They even took the kids home with them after Sunday School while I finished singing at the late service. I love living near them!

The kids enjoyed their back yard: beautiful flowers, a sunny spot to sit and swing, and a good book.

Sam didn't even mind getting pollen on his nose...

B's Birthday

We had dinner at our house Saturday night to celebrate B! She managed to get a picture with her six biggest fans!! We love you B!

There was even time for a little flying...

Bird Walk

We went to Aldridge Gardens last weekend to watch birds. Sam completed a bird journal for school a few weeks ago and has been gazing at them ever since. Pops' eagerness to watch birds with him has "fueled the flames" so to speak. Before we started the walk Sam informed us there was only one rule: watch out for snakes. (I have a feeling this is what his teacher told his class when they went on their bird walk.) Yes, he's wearing binoculars around his neck.

We made our way to the lake and found some gentlemen playing with their boats. It was quite humorous to me. The boys loved it!

Luke was thrilled when he found a walking stick.

He thought it was awesome.

I think we only saw 2 or 3 birds, but it was still worth our time. It was beautiful out there.

Waffle House

We went to Waffle House last Saturday for some high-grease yumminess. My favorite conversation of the morning occurred while we were on the way to the restaurant. It was something to the effect of Sam asking Ron what Waffle House looked like and Ron said "Oh no, Penny! We've failed as parents! Our kids don't know what a Waffle House is!" ha ha...

We had lots of fun while there. All the kids got their own WH hat and were introduced to a real juke box.

a new movie

the kids enjoyed "willy wonka and the chocolate factory" the other day... they walk around the house singing the golden ticket song all day long. ☺

sam had his third game this weekend. and they won again. every game he gets a little more into it. i love this picture: his hands are clutched and you can tell he is focused.
meanwhile, laney picked up and drank from every water bottle she could find. she is the busiest of my three!

a little too early

we brought the pool out the other day because it was 81 degrees. i learned that 81 degrees is not hot enough to get the water comfortable. the poor kids were freezing!

brothers in bed

we had a really rough storm last night. the boys stayed on the couch watching basketball with me and ron until after 9. we put them to bed and they were quiet. when i went to check on them i found this...sam is asleep, with his legs hanging off the bed. he's actually laying on luke's feet. and luke has a book corner stuck on his chin. so sweet!

is this funny to you?

is this funny to you, or am i just a mean mom? i was at a friend's birthday party on a bright sunny day when it spontaneously started raining. no sign of it. sam HATES being wet. i heard someone say it started raining and i jumped up to go save him. nate had already saved him but it wasn't soon enough for sam.

late night

i came home tonight from doing a tupperware party and found my 3 guys watching a movie in the basement. after soccer practice, ron took the kids to best buy and purchased the original willy wonka and the chocolate factory. they've been watching little clips on you tube whenever we'll allow it, so it was quite a treat to get to watch the movie in it's entirety. and don't worry, ron's not naked in this picture; he'd been riding his bike (as seen in the background)...
this picture was taken during luke's favorite song. he was bee-bopping away! i love my little sam in the background.
